Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has put another delay on his ‘October Surprise’, upsetting millions of people who were expecting bombshells of truth, damaging information regarding Hillary Clinton and around a million hacked governmental cables related to the war in Syria. Assange had originally planned to address the world from the balcony of the Ecuadorian embassy in London earlier this week, but had canceled due to concerns for his safety. Wikileaks claims that they had acquired “specific information” about Assange and had postponed the announcement until Wednesday. The world tuned in to watch Julian Assange announcing that he plans to start a series of publications, but wouldn’t specify very many details and revealed nothing new.
Julian Assange has insisted that they are not holding back and plan to make publications every week for the next 10 weeks, promising “documents on the subjects of war, arms, oil, Google and mass surveillance”. Assange also denied that he was specifically targeting Clinton with his cable releases, insisting that some of his statements have been misconstrued by the mainstream media. Despite the widespread right-wing hysteria, Julian made it a clear point that he does not hate Hillary Clinton, despite recent developments which reveal that Hillary Clinton had actually suggested assassinating the Wikileaks founder with a drone attack back in 2010. Assange said he will publish documents regarding at least three governments before the end of the year. “The documents themselves are revealing, but also the government/state reactions to the releases are revealing also,” he said.
It has been widely speculated that Wikileaks support a more conservative form of governance, due to the choice of timing with certain cable releases, which provoke a spark of political expediency for certain politicians over others. Julian Assange addressing his views of Hillary Clinton was perhaps the most controversial part of his whole video-link speech. In August this year, Julian Assange claimed he was holding information which would directly effect the presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, although now suggests his position is neutral and that it may only be a cause for interest regarding the US elections. Back in 2013, the Wikileaks political Party got ridiculed for directing its vote preferences to the Shooters and Fishers Party and the white nationalist ‘Australia First Party’ ahead of both major parties and the Greens in the NSW Senate race, effectively giving numbers to a party that endorses “abolishing multiculturalism” and banning Muslim immigration. In an interview with New York Times investigative reporter Jo Becker back in August of this year, Assange accused the press of supporting Hillary Clinton, whom he likened to a “demon.”
“The American liberal press, in falling over themselves to defend Hillary Clinton, are erecting a demon that is going to put nooses around everyone’s necks as soon as she wins the election, which is almost certainly what she’s going to do,”
Who does Wikileaks front-man support for the US federal election? Well, he claims neither. When asked who he prefers between Hillary or Trump by Fox News, Assange said: “You’re asking me, do I prefer cholera or gonorrhea?” which is a great answer to be honest, the choice between Hillary and Trump has made many Australians feel a lot better about having to choose between Turnbull or Shorten. In recent months, the WikiLeaks Twitter feed has looked more like the stream of an opposition research firm working to undermine Hillary Clinton than the updates of a non-partisan platform for whistle blowers. One thing I do know for certain is you cannot play political dice by timing your leaks around election campaigns and illegal Israeli expansions and maintain that Wikileaks is an organisation of transparency and truth… If you have the damn cables, release them!
Let us not forget the wonderful work that has been done in the past by the Wikileaks organisation, in exposing some of the biggest conspiracy theories in the world as being actual truth. Wikileaks has released cables which has forced the UN and NATO to re-evaluate certain political situations, which have actually resulted in lives being saved. What happens next is anybodies guess and the mainstream media are going crazy about it. Surely nobody doubts Wikileaks ability to deliver, when it comes to producing ground breaking leaks. In his video, Mr Assange also signaled changes in the way WikiLeaks will be organised and funded, saying the group would soon open itself to membership. He said the group was looking to expand its work beyond the 100 media outlets it currently works with.
